Nurses are the backbone of the healthcare system. Nursing is of the noblest professions in the world. The recent pandemic has flashed a spotlight on all the healthcare workers especially doctors and nurses who have selflessly worked towards helping the ailing.
Considering the rising standards of healthcare in India, there is always a need for well-qualified nursing staff in hospitals, clinics, privative nursing homes, all across India.
The following are the 6 levels of nursing education in India today;
- BSc in Nursing
- MSc in Nursing
- MPhil and PhD
- Female Health supervisor training
- General Nursing and midwifery
- Multipurpose health worker female training
It is a bachelor of nursing degree which comprises of 4 academic years.

Eligibility for Admission
- Candidate should have completed 10+2 from a recognised university with Physics, Chemistry and biology as key subjects
- Candidate should have obtained a minimum of 45% in PCB in the qualifying exam. If the candidate belongs to Scheduled Caste then the minimum requirement is 40% in PCB
- Candidate should have complete 17 years of age at the time of seeking the admission or will complete 17 years of age by 31st Dec of the year of admission
- Candidate should be medically fit
- Is to provide a mix of professional and general education
- To enable to candidate to become a responsible certified nursing professional
- Understand the broad concepts and fundamentals of nursing care with sound knowledge and skills to provide care to patients of every age group and community at any healthcare institution
- Understand and apply the principles of the physical biology and social sciences to access the health status of any individual needing care
- Capably investigate health care problems
- Capability to work as a cohesive member of the allied health care sciences discipline to arrive at optimal healthcare solutions for all members of the society
- Understand the fundamental principles of administration and working of a medical health facility
- Understand human behaviour and effectively handle interpersonal communications with individuals and families/groups
- Continue the quest of knowledge and be UpToDate in the advancement in the field
