Who Is Eligible To Apply?
Students who have cleared their higher secondary with physics, chemistry and biology as subjects can take up this course. They should also clear the entrance exams and interviews to get admitted into the colleges. The entrance exams are conducted by many government bodies and they are held from April to June. The rankings in the entrance and marks obtained in the qualifying examination are considered for the course.
The Course Details!
It is a practical oriented course but theoretical training is also provided. A same syllabus is followed by all the colleges and universities in the country. Bsc nursing duration is for four years and the students have internal assessments, practical training in hospitals and classroom learning. They are job ready with course completion.
Fees!
The fees vary with location and institutes. On an average the fees is about 1.5 lakhs to 2 lakhs per annum and in government institutions it is much lesser. Some reputed private colleges charge a higher fee for their exposure and facilities.
Curriculum!
As the syllabus is fixed by the nursing council of India the colleges have a common syllabus. The syllabus is updated regularly and it is set to meet the international nursing standards. Duration of bsc nursing is fixed by the council. Some of the core subjects are microbiology, biochemistry, nutrition, nursing basics, physiology, psychology, pharmacology, sociology, pathology and genetics, mental health nursing, midwifery, child health nursing, adult health nursing, etc.
The students also learn the basics of computer application and improve their communication, decision making and leadership skills. They are aware of the rights of the patients and they need to protect them and take care of them with empathy.
Opportunities!
With course completion they could seek employment opportunities in private or government sector. They could get about 3- 4 lakhs initially on an average and it differs with hospitals and location. Indian nursing students are on demand world over and they get a higher salary with experience. They are absorbed as nursing assistants, nursing supervisors, nurses, etc.
