Students start dreaming about their careers when they are in high school. Most students think of becoming doctors, engineers, pilots, and the list goes on and on. Some students are very particular that they want to become nurses and only students who are compassionate to others think of this course. This course cannot be taken up by all as these professionals should be compassionate and dedicated. 

Eligibility Criteria!

Students who have passed their higher secondary course with science subjects namely biology, chemistry, and physics with a minimum of 60% marks can take up this course. Most students opting for this course would have got more marks and they should also clear the entrance exams and interviews for seeking admission into the course. Most colleges conduct their own entrance exams for the course. The entrance exams are held in the April -June period. 

The Course Design!

The course is formulated by taking into consideration the needs of the healthcare sector. The course not only deals with subjects but it also teaches students compassion, empathy, and healing with care. Bsc nursing course duration is for four years. The students get practical exposure during the course period as they assist in hospitals. Indian nursing courses are widely accepted throughout the world as the course is updated regularly and the students learn the subjects with the essence of humanities. With course completion, the students become independent and competent. 

Subjects!

Some of the subjects are anatomy, physiology, biochemistry, nutrition, pharmacology, sociology, community health nursing, microbiology, child health nursing, operation theatre techniques, English, fundamentals of nursing, computer application, mental health nursing, maternity nursing, etc.

Internal assessment is part of the course and 80% attendance is mandatory for the course. 

Skills!

The students aspiring to become nurses should be dedicated and willing to work long hours and in lengthier shifts. They should also possess a caring attitude and be good at communication skills and leadership skills. They should also be quick in responding to situations. The students are trained in skills during the duration of BSc nursing course. Patience is the key and a nurse should assist doctors in times of need.

Fees!

The fees vary with institutes but most institutes charge an annual fee of 2,00,000 per year and in government colleges it is lesser.

Placements!

They work as nursing assistants, nursing tutors, ward nurse, home care nurses, etc. The salary depends on the communication skills and experience and they get an initial salary of about 3.5 lakhs to 6 lakhs and it may vary according to the hospitals.
